Malavika Raman, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor at the Tufts University School of Medicine.
In the Department of Developmental, Molecular, and Chemical Biology at the Tufts University School of Medicine.
Title of the presentation: p97 R155H mutant motor neurons have disrupted lysosome homeostasis.
Her lab is interested in understanding mechanisms that maintain protein homeostasis within the cell. In particular, the role of the VCP AAA-ATPase in the recognition and degradation of ubiquitin-modified substrates. Dr Raman's group is interested in identifying new pathways that utilize VCP activity, determining its mechanism of action on substrates and identifying new VCP targets. The goal is to apply these findings to help understand its dysfunction in human disorders.
