Andreas Roos, Ph.D.
Andreas Roos holds a Ph.D. in Human Genetics. He is the head of the Department for Pediatric Neurology at the University Medicine Essen (Duisburg-Essen University, Germany), the Heimer Institute for Muscle Research (Bergmannsheil Hospital, Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany) and the Leibniz-Institute für Analytical Science -ISAS- (Dortmund, Germany). Moreover, Andreas Roos is affiliated as an Adjunct Professor with the Children´s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO Research Institute, Lochmüller Team, Canada).
Title of the presentation: Proteomic studies in VCP pathology toward the definition of disease markers and starting points for therapeutic intervention concepts.
His recent focus is the application of biochemical approaches mainly proteomics in a clinical and pre-clinical context. Hereby, the research of Andreas Roos focuses on the etiology of hereditary and acquired neuromuscular disorders, defining consistent pathomechanisms and testing therapeutic intervention concepts. His team has the overall aim to identify the molecular mechanisms leading to the phenotypical manifestation.
