Financial support programs for FTD families residing in the U.S. are out there: 1) $500 toward respite care. 2) $500 toward the products that make daily life easier. 3) Help covering copays on medications that manage difficult symptoms.

Too often support grants go unclaimed simply because people don't know it's there.

VCP disease can lead to FTD, and for many families in our community, the financial weight of that diagnosis is as real as the medical one. But, real support exists for FTD families, and here are three programs built to help.

AFTD Comstock Respite Grants

For full time, unpaid care partners of someone with a documented FTD diagnosis, AFTD offers up to $500 a year toward respite care, mental health support, or self-care like a yoga or exercise class. Caring for someone else starts with caring for yourself too.

AFTD Comstock Quality of Life Grants

For people living with FTD, apply once per fiscal year for a $500 award to put toward products or services that brighten daily life: tablets that support communication, exercise equipment, hobby supplies, whatever helps you live more fully.

Neurocognitive Diseases with Psychosis (NCDP) Fund

Through the Patient Advocate Foundation's TotalAssist program, this fund helps cover out of pocket costs like copays, deductibles, and premiums for certain medications used to manage behavioral and psychosis related symptoms. Eligibility and income limits apply — check the link for current details.

No one should have to choose between financial stability and the care their family needs. These programs exist because organizations across our community believe that too. If you or someone you love is navigating FTD, we encourage you to explore these grants and others that may be available.
